✦Archetype and General Meaning
After passing the terrifying, subconscious test in the realm of the Moon, we are greeted by the happiest and most vital energy in the entire Tarot deck: The Sun (Sol). It signifies day, the fullness of consciousness, logical and spiritual truth devoid of any fogs, objective glory, powerful biological vigor, and cosmic self-confidence without a shadow of pride. It speaks of a joyful enlightenment that no longer hides in the quiet cave of a monk like the Hermit or the Hierophant, but beats with the force of nuclear radiation for the sheer fact of being, like the laugh of an innocent child. The card of powerful fulfillment.
✦Psychology and Inner World
Your internal software is programmed for pure, luminous waves of joy and vitality. You don't like to dig around and waste time in the "entrails of psychological darkness" too much like the Moon or Death, your natural state is the fullness of strength, the desire to get up at dawn with a new, brilliant, and brilliantly joyful plan for the day. You are a person who is naturally sure of your worth (self-awareness), trusting, and smiling, which is why others are automatically drawn into your Sun's magnetism, warming themselves in your optimism to recharge their batteries. It is hard to get depressed around you.
✦Potential
Your greatest resource is the gift of radiance embodying authentic success and sharing it with the world.
- ◆The Vitality of Youth (Health): Brilliant capabilities for taking care of your biophysical field, playing sports; your body functions incredibly well when close to the rays of nature.
- ◆Creating clear solutions and truth: In projects, you bypass complicated and convoluted nonsense. You communicate everything in a simple, integrated, reliable, and illuminating way like an x-ray, quickly reducing business issues to their sensible core.
- ◆Childlike energy of Success and the Stage: Fame is naturally positive for you; you love the spotlight as a field for exchanging joyful passions, and as you age, you become even younger in spirit and become a mentor in optimism.
✦Shadow
The Sun rarely brings pathological darkness. The Shadow of the Sun consists in being burned by the ego, being an overly confident "God-King Sun." When this vibration settles into the stagnation of exaltation, you can fall into vulgar stardom and an egocentrism so absolute that you are completely insensitive to the fears of the people around you (you forcibly try to cheer up a person, for example, in the process of the Death card, burning them with a "frantic, unempathetic desire to make them happy by force"). It is also arrogance, naivety (getting burned due to excessive openness to systemic evil), and letting success go to your head (arrogance after material success, "burning to a crisp" in business/forcing the sun to burn).
✦Relationships and Emotions
You are a guarantor of incredibly healthy, happy, and radiant romantic arrangements, devoid of weird games (the Sun by definition unmasks hidden fears and strips away shadows). In a relationship, you give an enormous amount of enthusiasm, and you are not ashamed of warm feelings. You expect the same and absolutely cannot stand relationships with the emotional numbness of the "Moon." Childhood, sexual vitality, and simple (but sincere) love are daily bread under this energetic umbrella. The challenge lies in caring for a somewhat quieter partner, so that the Sun can warm them without burning their separate, smaller, and perhaps more watery identity to dust.
✦Symbolism
- ◆The Sun in the sky without any clouds (The Great Face): The divine source of all biological life, unlimited in its potential to warm and manifest, illuminates everything equally, the symbol of the highest point of daytime Enlightenment consciousness (Logos/The Truth of the Cosmos fully blazing).
- ◆A child on a white horse with open arms: Embodies the soul reborn after the hardships of the journey. The purity and carefreeness of the fool obtained at the very end through the knowledge of all previous cards. Recovered trust of the inner Child and riding (unlike the armor from the Chariot (VII)) but NAKED on white animal drive! Return to Paradise (on the horse of pure animal instincts).
- ◆Red, huge banner and Walls (behind on the outside): The banner indicates the irrevocable, biological Triumph of blood, heart, and spirit. Sunflowers behind the wall always turn their face to the Light.
✦Example of Action in Life
Being in a depressing job, having depressive moods in December (due to the fading Moon system), you go to Greece with all your new knowledge on vacation to catch the sun and joyfully swim and nothing more, a reset in the sea water, open arms to the sun. There, with a huge, joyful, and carefree laughing face over a drink at the bar, you strike up a wonderful acquaintance with a book publisher, who on their own notices the light in you for collaboration and publishes a massive art-book about you. Success manifests naturally, not by clenching fists like the "Chariot," but from unforced joy and radiance and a trusting dance in the Sun without armor, triggering the joyful enthusiasm of the Universe, which reflects gifts back to us for our trust, while illusions (night monsters) burn spontaneously from an objective lack of oxygen.
