XVII. The Star

Hope, inspiration, peace, renewal, guidance.

The Star is the return of hope and peace after the dramatic storm of the Tower. It points the way to renewal through gentleness, cosmic faith in a better tomorrow, and connection with divine guidance.

XVII. The Star

Archetype and General Meaning

After the shocks and rubble left behind by the Tower, the soul looks up at the cloudless, starry night sky. The Star is the archetype of Hope, Grace (Gifts from above), Healing, and Cosmic Guidance (the Star of Bethlehem). It is the point where, after the worst darkness and loss, you suddenly feel a complete, deep, and quiet inner peace. You realize that "it will be okay" because you are on the right path. It is the vibration of inspiration, unbridled artistry, and opening up to the goodness flowing from the Universe through the act of gratitude.

Psychology and Inner World

Having the vibration of the Star in your portrait, you are a person with an unquenchable, almost luminous optimism (but not naive like the Fool). You have an incredibly open heart and are considered a "dreamer" who believes in a higher good. You radiate a very gentle and quiet peace that others gravitate towards to heal their broken hearts. Your mind can be "above the ground", you can create beautiful visions. You are incredibly honest, trusting (often naked, without armor) toward the Universe, drawing extraordinary, positive gifts from this.

Potential

Your greatest gift is being a lighthouse and an inspiration.

  • The gift of healing space: With your pure, undisturbed energy and positive attitude alone, you restore people's faith that life is worth living (you are like a balm).
  • An inexhaustible well of creativity: The Star grants the most outstanding artistic, visual, and poetic talents, and a feeling for the universe in art.
  • Manifestation of miracles: You have an open channel to "download" ideas and solutions straight from the stars into matter, trusting deeply in the process.

Shadow

The unintegrated Star (shadow) is complete hopelessness. In the shadow, you lose the light in the sky and become an absolute cynic plunged into deep sorrow, doubt, or depression. The second aspect of the dark Star is the illusion of higher enlightenment: you can have your head in the clouds and spin beautiful visions (e.g., of a spiritual, miraculous life) while being completely ungrounded, you live in a fantasy world without paying rent or doing any real "work with the jugs on the ground."

Relationships and Emotions

In relationships with others, you expect the ideal. Your problem can be looking for a love straight out of romantic poetry, forgetting that real people are not shooting stars and have flaws. You are a healing presence for your partner, giving them a beautiful perspective and platonic love, but entering the deep materiality of this world and daily chores in a relationship can be a challenge. You desire a partner who will look not only into your eyes, but in the same direction toward the stars.

Symbolism

  • Naked woman (without armor): Signifies purity of the soul devoid of falsehood and ego blockages. She is authentic after being cleansed of lies during the Tower stage.
  • Two vessels (jugs): One poured into the water (collective subconscious/feelings), the other onto the dry earth, dividing into 5 streams (5 material senses). She divides cosmic grace equally between spirit and body. She pours out more than she keeps, knowing the Universe's law of abundance (what you give with your heart comes back).
  • One main large Star and 7 small ones: Usually attributed to Sirius or the Pleiades (orienting stars in the sky). A determinant of a noble and unwavering course toward the truth. It also represents the chakras.
  • Ibis in the background (Bird of Thoth): Symbol of the Egyptian god of wisdom and recording (manifestation of ideas from the ether through word/art).

Example of Action in Life

Imagine a person in intense therapy. For a long time, they struggled with a crisis of existential meaning, "wading" through painful work under the guidance of a psychologist. Then one morning they wake up, look out the window, and for the first time in years, feel an unjustified, wonderful, deep peace and acceptance. All hope returns, and without compulsion, they go back to painting, which they abandoned years ago. They stopped "working hard on themselves" and simply opened the jugs, drawing water anew. This is the grace of the Star's energy in its purest form.
